Driven by the escalating market needs for stable supply capacity, shortened delivery cycles and localized service, we have strategically invested in building a new automated MBR production line at Xiamen site. This milestone not only marks the further expansion of our MBR technology layout but also aims to better cater to the evolving requirements of municipal MBR projects in the Asian market and beyond. 


In this exclusive interview, Mr. Hans Joerg Heckmann, a key expert of our team, shares in-depth insights into the technical and organisational advantages of the new Xiamen site, practical experience from initial project applications, and the strategic value of regional production for municipal MBR development.


What specific changes will the new site in Xiamen bring for UNISOL and for municipal MBR projects?

Ans: With the site in Xiamen China, we have reorganised our MYTEX MBR production both technically and organisationally. Here, we are producing the modules for the first time in a continuous process chain, starting with membrane production through to module assembly and final testing. This improves the reproducibility of product properties and reduces process-related tolerances. For municipal operators and planning engineering firms, one thing is particularly relevant: security of supply. 


With the new line, we can gradually expand MYTEX capacity to up to 500,000 square metres of membrane area per year while significantly reducing delivery times. This creates planning security for new buildings and the expansion of existing MBR plants.



The first MYTEX modules from Xiamen are already in use. What insights have been gained from practical experience?

Ans: The first delivery was for use in an MBR wastewater treatment plant, a typical municipal application scenario. It was important for us to evaluate not only the timely delivery, but also the performance of the modules in real-world operation. The modules are running stably and show consistent filtration behaviour under the specified operating parameters. 


The combination of robust mechanical design and good cleaning behaviour is particularly relevant for operators, as these factors have a significant impact on availability and operating costs. For us, this first application confirms that the modules from Xiamen meet the requirements of municipal MBR plants in terms of both quality and process.


Why is the regional production of MYTEX MBR modules a strategic advantage, especially for municipal projects?

Ans: The MBR market is growing worldwide, especially in the municipal sector. At the same time, requirements for operational safety, service life and availability of replacement modules are increasing. Regional production is the decisive lever for this. With production in Xiamen, we are shortening supply chains and can respond more quickly to project-related requirements, such as expansions, retrofits or short-term replacement needs. 


This is particularly relevant for operators who run their plants at high capacity and cannot accept long downtimes. For engineering firms, this means additional planning security, as technical specifications, delivery dates and subsequent deliveries become easier to calculate. The expansion of MYTEX MBR production is therefore a contribution to reliable, long-term MBR solutions.
